WordPress email notification/subscription plugin

UPDATE:

I have added new features to this plugin; your website users now have three email subscription options to choose in this WordPress comments plugin. These three options are:

1. They can choose to not receive any email notifications [selected by default]

2. Users can choose to receive email notification Only if someone replies to their comment.

If a poster clicks on REPLY button below another comment and if the parent commenter has selected this second email subscription option, only then an email notification is sent to the poster of the parent comment.

3. Third option is to receive email notification whenever a new comment is posted.

The third option enables users to receive a notification whenever someone posts a new comment. Note that they only receive notification for comments on posts or pages that they have subscribed to.

This plugin only sends notifications to users for articles/posts to which users have subscribed. They can subscribe to multiple posts/pages; in each of them, they are free to choose any of the three aforementioned subscription options.

I have modified this plugin code so that it does not send-out unnecessary email notifications. I am trying to update the plugin whenever possible. There are few new features that I wish to add to this plugin, but unfortunately, I currently have neither the time nor the resources to do so.

Why haven’t you updated this plugin for the past several months?

I hope I always have the time and resources to maintain/update this plugin. I intent to do my best to provide support in WordPress Forum and provide updates in a timely manner. However, it is quite possible that I will not have enough time or resources to do so in the future; I do wish that never happens.

If the plugin is not updated in several months and if it does need an update to make it work properly, then I suggest you wait. Whenever possible, I am going to update the code.

Why am I not using it in my own website?

I recently installed a new premium-plugin in my website. The two are conflicting with each other, so I have temporarily disabled my email notification plugin.

Do you plan to add any new features in the near future?

Yes, I do. I am working on a complete overhaul. I am adding several new features. I am also cleaning and optimizing the base code. The work is slow because I am the sole developer who is working on this project. I have to write all the code, test it, tweak it, optimize it, etc. Basically, it is a time consuming work so I can’t tell for sure when the new changes are coming.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will reply whenever I can. Following links may help:

1. Send email only on Reply to My Comment
2. Plugin Directory
3. Optin Comment Notifications
4. Comment Mail
5. Comments – wpDiscuz
6. Custom Comment Notifications

It says WP 2.9.2 or higher… I’ve got 4.7.. will ‘Send email only on Reply to My Comment’ work?

    • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

I didn’t update this plugin for a while now because I don’t have any spare time. So I am not sure if it will work. You can test it, though.

hi thanks for this plugin- 2 question?
1-why you dont use this plugin in this site?
2-i install and config plugins but Dont send any emails to the users why?

  • Paolo

    Hi,

First of all I would like to thank you for this amazing plugin.

I have a question regarding the subscription dropdown field in the comment box. Would it be possible to hide the field and also the “You are subscribed to this post…” message? I would like to force all commenters to receive notifications when someone replays their own comments. I can get to hide the field via css but there is not way I can hide the subscribed message other than editing the plugin code. Maybe an option for this would be useful directly in the admin panel.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,

    A couple of questions:

    1) In the subscriber’s management area, they are given a choice to suspend or delete their subscription. What is the difference?

    2) In the settings for “Show dropdown menu” there is a yes/no choice. I was trying this out and when I chose ‘no,’ it still gave me a dropdown menu. What is supposed to happen?

So far, I think this is what I’m looking for. Very nice. Thank you.

    • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

      Hello,

      1. Blog owners can use the suspend option to deactivate the subscription. The record will still show in report but subscription will be disabled and can be enabled again.
I will remove this option from user’s management page.

      2. Where are you seeing this option?

In “Comment Form Options”, the following three options are available, which are related to drop down menu:

      Show Message With Dropdown Menu?
Do You Want To Show A Message With The Dropdown Menu?
Do You Want To Show The Message Above or Below The Dropdown Menu?

      Regards

    • Liz

      1) So ‘suspend’ and ‘delete’ are the same thing?

      2) In the ‘Comment Forms Options’ tab. This is what it looks like:

      ————————————————————————–
Show Message With Dropdown Menu? Yes No
Do You Want To Show A Message With The Dropdown Menu?.
      ————————————————————————–

Why is the option for ‘No’ given if there is ONLY a dropdown option?

      • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

There is a Message that shows with the drop-down menu. These options are related to that message. By default, the message is:

        ********
If A New Comment Is Posted:
        ********

        Suspend = Disable

Delete = Remove user-info from database

    please advice.

    thank you

  • Laurentino

Hi. I installed this plugin but I have noticed two things:

    1. I have been told by people that they are not receiving emails from the plugin even if they subscribe.
Will this be because I have set my comments to be approved before being posted to my website?

    2. I have also noted that there is no way to unsubscribe in case you are receiving too many emails from replies. Is there an option in order to allow unsubscription?

Thanks for all the help provided.

  • Cedric

    Hello,

First, thank you for this plugin.

    I have 2 questions :
    1) how to search for a specific e-mail which receive new comment notification ? I have thousands of comments and when someone complains, it is very hard for me to unsubscribe it.
    2) how to have only the “do not send notifications” and “send e-mail notifications ONLY if someone replies to my comment”? I would like to avoid having the option of everyone receiving all the comments as it causes trouble to my hosting and to my readers.

    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Cedric

    Hi,

We’ve installed your plugin onto our site however struggling to get it to work. Do you provide any technical support on this plugin? We are happy to pay for your time.

    Thanks

    • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

      Hello,

      What issue are you facing?

      • Matthew

The plugin is installed and placed just below the “enter comments” box in our blog posts. However, when a user subscribes to be notified of either optins: “Send email notification ONLY if someone replies to my comment(s)” or “Send email notification whenever a new comment is posted”, an email is not sent to notify the user. Can you help?

        Kind regards

        • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

          What is your blog URL?

          Which theme are you using?

          Which plugins have you installed?

          • Matthew

            Hi,

The theme we have used is customised by our developer. I have sent you an email regarding URL and plugins installed to keep these details outside of the public domain.

However, feel free to post any recommendations back on this thread should you feel that this will help others using your plugin.

            Thanks

            • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

I will check the details you sent in the email, meanwhile [if possible] make the following test:

Enable the Default WordPress Theme. Open any post and check if the subscription menu shows.

              • Matthew

                Hi,

When I enable the default WordPress Theme (Twenty Fourteen Theme) I can see the subscription menu below the Post Comments button.

                What does this mean?

              • Admin: The Binary Options Geek

                Hello,

The issue is the Custom Theme you are using. You can ask your Developer to resolve this issue. He will probably have to add some Coding in your theme’s comments.php file.

  • Yashar

@Denise: I had this as well whenever I was logged in as administrator. Just log out and log in again as normal user. Then you´ll see the plugin working :)

@administrator: Is there already a German translation for the Send email only on Reply to My Comment plugin? I don´t know how to translate modules, but if I can help you translating just the words into native German, please let me know :)

      Hello,

Confirmation email feature is disabled by default and there is no option to enable it.

    Hi Yasir,

My name is Andrew, I am with WebHostingHub. We would like to translate your Send email only on Reply to My Comment plugin that we found at https://elance360.com/wordpress-plugin/ to Spanish language, no charge of course, to help people from Hispanic community better manage their websites. Would that be ok with you?

I hope I’ll hear from you soon.
