Is there a built-in video card in Intel DP55WB?

2 min read

Question:

Is there an internal built-in video card in Intel DP55WB motherboard? Is this motherboard even worth buying? Is it a cheap-built product that provides only the essentials and no fancy stuff?

Answer:

This motherboard doesn’t have any internal built-in video card. In the back-panel, there are no VGA, DVI, or HDMI ports you can use to attach a monitor. So if you are buying this motherboard, you must also purchase a video, or graphics card. There is nothing special about this MB; it just has the minimum hardware you need to build a PC on. This MB is not even suited for office use, but then that is just my personal opinion.

If you are purchasing a PC for gaming, then never buy this motherboard; in fact, don’t buy any Intel boards as they are not suited for gaming from any perspective. Buy a MB made by a good brand like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.

Intel DP55WB has the following PCI ports:

1 PCI Express 2.0 [X16]

2 PCI Express 2.0 [X1]

1 Conventional PCI slot

This MB uses LGA 1156, or Socket H CPU socket. As far as I know, there are not many modern processors that work in this socket, anymore. If anyone is selling a new or used DP55WB motherboard to you, then my suggestion is to walk away from this deal. I made a mistake when I decided to purchase it, few years back, for my work PC; the other choice was a good Asus gaming motherboard. At that time, I thought this MB would be a better choice as I have no intentions of using any games in this PC; I was trying to save some money. Man, was I wrong!

Even if you want to build a work-PC, I would recommend you buy a good gaming motherboard. They provide tons of features; you never know, one day they might come in handy. They are solid built. For instance, they use power-full capacitors. You may have heard about them in advertising; capacitors actually play a very important role in your PC’s overall health and stability. It also provides protection to all circuits on MB.

DP55WB has a lower price tag, but that still doesn’t make it worth buying. The money you are going to spend on buying an external graphics card, you can use that money to purchase a good brand MB that has an internal video card. Therefore, you are buying a good motherboard for the same price that you need to pay for DP55WB plus one external video-card. Below is a list of resources you might find useful:
